I'm basically using this site as a place to practice new skills so I don't fall too far behind the newest web widgets while I'm doing the same thing at work every day. I've tried to tie some of it into my personal life, so there's at least a reason to look at it for you, Joe Average User.
Ethan's picture section
A pictorial retelling of my life, with my own witticisms thrown into the mix. 4 categories of my life: Childhood, High School, College, and "The Real World", which is in fact nothing like the MTV show. For you tech-heads, this is done in PHP.
Ethan's Movie Database
A complete listing of every movie I own, on DVD and VHS. I'm a big movie buff, so I wanted to catalog the movies I owned. This way I don't have to worry about getting duplicates for Christmas or my birthday. You can sort the list of movies by alphabetic order, year of release, director, and format (DVD/VHS). Also, when you click on a movie link, you'll get a chance to leave your own review for that movie, as well as suggest a famous quote to be immortalized on that movie's page. For the techies, this was done with ASP, SQL, and MS Access.
Ethan's Pop Culture Quiz
15 multiple choice questions covering Movies, Music, and Sports. Take the quiz and see how you stack up against those who took it before you. I should warn you though...nobody has ever passed!
Ethan's Guestbook - sign it view it
I just created my own guestbook, coded from scratch like your mom's peanut butter cookies. Sign it and leave your own permanent imprint on EthanHayes.com, or see who else has imprinted themselves.
Homemade BlackJack
A very amateur blackjack game I wrote while I had some free time at work over the course of a couple of days. It doesn't take into account money matters, and there's no splitting, doubling down, etc. However, it does follow casino rules - Aces can be used as 1's or 11's, dealer must hit at 16 and under and must stay at 17 or over. This is a one deck game, so you won't be getting the same card more than once in the same hand.
